At Roots, we love supporting the growth of small businesses, especially when it comes to our partners in food sustainability. This week we’re highlighting our friends at Buy Better Foods in Brooklyn New York. Buy Better Foods has carried Roots Kitchen and Cannery in the NYC area for the past year, and we couldn’t be happier that they are spreading our mission to the east coast!

Why Buy Better?

We spoke with Buy Better Foods founder and owner, Myriam Simpierre, on her mission and why she started BBF. “We want to help simplify everyone’s healthy living choices. Whether you’re vegan or keto or just making more ethical choices like trying to live waste-free, BBF wants to be a community resource that can make a few more options available to help you do that!” 

Myraim started Buy Better Foods because she had worked in retail all her life, and wanted something of her own. Simpierre noticed a lot of supermarkets were capitalizing on the fact that people are being a lot more careful with their shopping decisions, and that it was hard to get a big mega-market to give you the information, recommendations, and advice people need to make good decisions. So Simpierre started BBF.

As for the other side of the United States, we are hitting the summer hard. You can get all our delicious can goods online and at the Jackson Farmers Market, where you can also get your pie and quiche fix every Saturday.
