Who Are We?

Roots Kitchen & Cannery is a Montana-based small-batch canning company crafting unique pickles and preserves by hand. Founded with a passion for bold flavors and traditional canning methods, we create artisan products using thoughtfully sourced ingredients and recipes inspired by the seasons. From our signature fruit jams to our handcrafted pickles, every jar is made in small batches to ensure exceptional quality, flavor, and freshness. 

Why should I choose Roots?

Because our products are simply good. Like, really good.

We believe great food doesn't need fillers, additives, preservatives, or shortcuts. Just exceptional fruit and vegetables, carefully crafted and preserved at their peak. Bold flavor is our North Star. Every jar is made to showcase the ingredients, not mask them—resulting in jams and pickles that are bright, dynamic, and unapologetically delicious.

What Do You Mean When You Say 'Low Sugar'?

When we say 'Low Sugar" we mean it! Our jams are made with just enough sugar to preserve so they're fresher, fruitier, and more flavorful.

This also means they are not immortal. Once opened, you'll want to plan on finishing your jar within a month. Though if it's actually lasting that long, we have some serious questions about your priorities...

Are Your Products Locally Sourced?

We take pride in sourcing our ingredients responsibly from trusted suppliers, both locally and nationally. All of our fruit is grown on family run farms in the Pacific Northwest, and our veggies are grown on neighboring farms in Bozeman, Montana!

How Long Have You Been in Business?

Roots Kitchen Cannery started out as a humble farmer’s market booth in Jackson, Wyoming where we sold pies and quiches every Saturday morning. In 2012 we expanded our operation to Bozeman, Montana with a line of deliciously unique canned goods. Two years later they brought on the third member of our team, Willi Brooks, to run the bakery back in Wyoming.

Since then we’ve won two Good Food Awards, been featured on an episode of Taste Makers, and expanded our distribution across the US! Our canning facility has moved but we still call Bozeman, Montana home-base and continue the work of processing and preserving fresh fruits and veggies so that you can enjoy FRESH TASTE YEAR ROUND - because transforming flavorful fruits and veggies into hand-canned pickles, and preserves will always be OUR JAM (see what we did there).

Where can i find ingredients & nutritional information?

Nutritional information and ingredients for each item is located on the product’s individual product page.

What about allergens?

All of our products are gluten free, nut free, Non GMO certified and free of fillers and additives. Ingredients are listed on each product label, as well as on product’s individual product page alongside nutritional information. 

What is the product's shelf life?

We recommend locating the ‘Best By’ date printed on all Roots products for the optimal flavor and color lifespan of the product. If the ‘Best By’ date has been exceeded, we advise disposing of the product.

Our jams are lower in sugar than most, which means they're fresher, fruitier, and (sadly) not immortal. Once opened, you'll want to plan on finishing your jar within a month.

Do I need to refrigerate after opening?

Roots products are shelf stable until opened, at which point they require refrigeration. 

How can I track my order?

We ship through UPS and USPS. Once your order is shipped, you'll receive an email with a tracking number. You can use this number on our website's "Track Order" page or through the courier's tracking system to monitor the delivery status.

Can I cancel or make changes to my order?

Yes, but you'll have to act fast! We typically ship within 2 to 3 days of placing your order. Once your order has shipped we are unable to cancel or make any changes/

What should I do if my order arrives damaged?

We’re sorry for the inconvenience! We take extra care to make sure your pickles and jams arrive safely. Each jar is individually inspected, tightly sealed, and cushioned with protective, food-safe padding to prevent movement during transit. 

Unfortunately we have no control over what happens during transit so please let us know if your product arrives broken and we will happily send a replacement! Please contact us at orders@rootskitchencannery to initiate a replacement.

Do you offer returns or exchanges?

We do not accept returns but we are happy to send a replacement if your order is damaged or defective.

Can I send my order as a gift?

Yes! Select the “Gift” option at checkout and we’ll be sure to leave out the price list and include a message of your choosing. 

How do Gift Cards work?

We only offer Digital Gift Cards which are redeemable through our online shop.

  1. Choose an amount & quantity, then add to cart. 
  2. At checkout, add your email to send later, or add the recipient to send right away.
  3. Your done! Your generous gift is on it's way.

Digital Gift Cards purchased with or without product are delivered to the email address of your choice and are non-refundable. 

Is this site secure?

We have designed our website and ordering systems to ensure the highest level of security possible.

Will my credit card number be stored on the site?

Although our site is secure, we do not allow that information to be stored within our site or within your account. We do not store any credit card or financial account information in our databases that could later be used to compromise your account. This information is used as provided and only to complete your current transaction.

How do I change or edit my customer information
(shipping, billing, email address, password)?

If you have a registered customer account, just log in with your email address and the password you originally supplied. Then, click ‘Account’ in the upper right hand corner. Select ‘View Addresses’ and utilize the ‘edit’ links to update any of your original information.
